ATTACK ON THE MAIL

How to get rid of email spam? experts' advice

Receiving e-mail suggestions to make countless bargains, get to know someone on the web or earn a large sum of money is nothing other than a spam attack. It would seem that there is no harm in the fact that email spam attacks us virtually on every electronic resource - icq, various forums and chat rooms. In the face of endless incoming e-mails, our inbox is simply helpless, not to mention the fact that it takes more and more time to clean it, and the traffic is not free.

It is very frustrating when spam comes directly from a user's email when he has absolutely nothing to do with it. As a result, an ordinary Internet user becomes a source of proposals like: "Forex: Fashion for the US dollar", "What to cook for dinner", "secrets of good potency", "new arrivals on the dating site", "best diet pills", etc . Unbeknown to himself, an email user becomes an annoyance and not a very pleasant reminder of himself.

What do experts say on this subject? It turns out that if a user's address somehow gets on a spam list, this means that he has been in a chat or forum, even if not for a very long time. But on the other hand, if a user's email is much loved by spammers, this means that the mailbox is registered on the website of an unscrupulous owner who allows spammers to access his address databases.

Mailbox and not just one

Professional programmers advise users to have several email boxes, but for personal and business correspondence, it is desirable to have an email address on a paid hosting for more guaranteed protection of his information from outsiders.

The advantages of a paid mailbox lie in the fact that the representative is responsible for its smooth operation, provides technical support and does not share email addresses with spammers (assuming that the user himself is also careful). However, it is possible that the owner of an electronic inbox who subscribes to mailing lists needs to receive them, and therefore, for this purpose he needs to have a separate mailbox. This e-mail can be created on a free hosting, as security requirements in this case are not so stringent.

Another mailbox is required for registration on various forums, websites and chat rooms. This address can be given to anyone you like and written wherever you want. The main thing is to choose the right name for it so that it is not too primitive and easy to pick up. For example, elman03cola@... is better than elman@... The work of several mailboxes can be controlled with the help of special mail programmes.

If your inbox is full of spam

What if a user's mailbox is full and overflowing with spam and the aforesaid advice came too late? First, you need to distribute the flow of incoming messages to other mailboxes, including personal correspondence and mailings. To do this, you need to install an email programme and in parallel, an anti-spam filter on your computer. After a while, it will become "adjusted" to the requirements of the mailbox owner and filter messages based on his notes: what mail is spam and what is not spam. But the problem of traffic in this case remains unsolved, because spam will continue to load actively - it is just that the user will not see it. Consequently, there is a way to filter them out by the titles of letters directly on the mail server. This method of filtering provides the ability to view "themes" on the mail provider's server and delete the ones that do not meet the settings of the user's filter.

Installing an anti-spam filter, the user can select and add the required number of conditions necessary for security and peace of mind. But in order not to accidentally miss an important email, it is best to make the filtering conditions slightly looser.

No to spam!

The user can make personal "black" and "white" lists. If the efficiency of "black" lists is doubtful (because spammers constantly change their addresses), the "white" lists will help you not to accidentally delete an important letter.

The problem of spam is very acute! And there is more and more of it. In some countries, the law makes it possible to jail out-and-out spammers.

At the same time, the user can annoy them at least by not clicking on the links they attach and not responding to their messages. Do not help them make money with your clicks, especially as they dream about it day and night. Otherwise, the mailbox will immediately become effective for spam, and these original viruses will certainly not let you live a quiet life.

If a user regularly receives spam advertising a product or project, he can send a letter of complaint to the management of the project, or to figure out the spammer's IP-address and complain to the Internet provider about him. The spammers will be guaranteed some trouble. In short, if the user does not wish to resign himself to the situation, he should declare a decisive war on spam.
