ARMENIAN TERROR IN QUBA

The mass graves discovered in Quba are direct evidence of the Azerbaijani genocide committed by Armenians in the early 20th century

In this civilized world, there are methods of civilized struggle. The leaders of major world powers love to talk about democracy. The Council of Europe, for example, often talks about "evolutionary democracy" in developing countries. The favourite subject of the leaders of industrial countries is the war on terror, which also serves as cover for pursuing some other goals. Meanwhile, the starting point in the full-scale war on terror is the tragic event of 11 September 2001 - the day when the twin towers were destroyed in New York.

The Americans' call to "declare war on terror" was accepted by all countries that claim to be developed and to have firm democratic traditions. It is known that about 5,000 people died in New York on that tragic day. It is terrible, isn't it? Peaceful people, someone's father, wife, grandfather, grandmother, grandchildren, mother, sister, brother, husband, friends and loves ones died in front of the whole world and in someone else's interests. The USA did not have to prove that a real act of genocide had been committed against US citizens and not only.

It is more difficult to prove that there has been a deliberate massacre if it happened 89 years ago, even if there is undeniable evidence and even if the "war on terror" is called World War IV. Of course, tragic events have happened in the history of every people. If it were not for Armenian claims to Azerbaijani lands and for the so-called "Armenian genocide", in peacetime we would continue to keep quite about terror against Azerbaijanis, someone's father, wife, grandfather, grandmother, grandchildren, mother, sister, brother, husband, friends and loves ones. This is proved by the recent discovery of mass graves of Azerbaijanis in Quba.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijani historians maintain that more Azerbaijanis were killed by Armenians in 1918 in Baku and Samaxi. The mass killings of Azerbaijanis happened in many cities all over the country. The population of Samaxi was 15,000 before the 1918 events. According to 1921 figures, the city's population had shrunk to 1,750. It was established then that 8,000 people had been killed, including old men, women and children. Material was gathered in those years that reflected facts related to the massacre of Azerbaijanis up to specifying victims by sex and age.

According to MP and historian Camil Hasanli, 12,000 people were killed in Baku in three days alone. Recalling the events of 1920-21, some Bolsheviks said that more than 20,000 Muslims had been killed on orders from Stepan Shaumyan. A commission was set up that gathered materials testifying to Armenian atrocities. This historical information is at the State Archive of Azerbaijan. At the Paris conference of 1919, the head of the Azerbaijani delegation and one of the leaders of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan, Alimardan bay Topcubasov, said that Azerbaijan had lost 150,000 people on its path to freedom and independence.

The fact that democratic countries prefer to believe in the "Armenian genocide" and that their embassies ignore events devoted to the genocide of Azerbaijanis is at least hypocrisy. How about civilized methods of struggle, how about the war on terror and how about democracy? A conference dedicated to the mass graves of Azerbaijanis discovered in Quba was held in Baku on 23 April at the initiative of the New Azerbaijan Party. The event where representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan were invited was ignored by US, British diplomats and diplomats from other countries that regard themselves as being democratic and developed.

Victims of 1918

Scientists from the Institute for Archaeology and Ethnography (IAE) of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan are studying the Quba mass grave found in early April 2007. The terrible grave was discovered by builders during the reconstruction of a sports complex as they carried out the first excavations together with local residents. Because of their unprofessional approach, the remains were slightly damaged. Intervention by scientists from the Academy of Sciences put an end to this. Professional archaeologists were soon sent to study the mass grave.

One of the members of the working group that was set up, a representative of the IAE, a historian and a member of the expedition, Asgar Aliyev, said that the grave was found on the left bank of the River Qudialcay. The scientist maintains that it is not a grave because human bones are stockpiled chaotically in two wells on the river bank. The depth of one of the wells is five meters and the other - 2.5 meters, and the distance between them is two meters. Hundreds of human skeletons have been found in the deep well.

"There are no intact skeletons. This fact shows that the bodies of those killed were first dismembered and then thrown into the well. It proved possible to find only 35 intact skeletons, including children's skeletons. The second well has not been opened yet. The bones are still wet, which means that these people died 80-90 years ago." Asgar Aliyev also said that Armenians killed these people away from the river. More likely, the killers buried their victims on the river bank and hoped that the water would wash their remains away. But this did not happen.

Reinforcement is needed

According to historical records, Armenians brutally killed 16,000 people and destroyed 122 villages in Quba. President Ilham Aliyev has signed four decrees to reveal facts of genocide. Of course, the Academy of Sciences alone cannot carry out full-scale research into the graves. It is necessary for all relevant government agencies, including criminologists from the Interior Ministry, to intervene. It is worth pointing out that before the mass graves in Quba were discovered, a similar place was also found in Neftcala District. However, there are certain differences. The remains were not chaotically scattered here. People were buried here according to Muslims traditions. Some skeletons were damaged and were found away from the main grave. Scientists are now working at the Neftcala grave, and they maintain that the remains found here are a terrible result of Armenian terror. The local population says that local residents clashed with Armenian bandit formations here in 1918. But unlike Quba, people who survived the massacre here had a chance to bury those killed.

According to Nacaf Museyibli, director of the Institute for Archaeology and Ethnograpy of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, the scientists who carried out excavations in Quba witnessed a terrible picture. The killers did not allow the survivors to bury those killed according to Islamic laws. "The brutal massacre in Quba defies description. This was a real act of genocide," Museyibli says.

According to the results of the scientific expedition to Quba and a scientific meeting, the Academy of Sciences and the IAE approved a number of proposals, namely, the construction work should be suspended and the territory of the mass grave should be guarded; the remains that were found should pass a medical examination; further work should be carried out by a state commission that has been set up to this end and includes representatives of the law-enforcement agencies and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism; the archaeologists should do their best to clear the human remains from soil; and they will be buried in the same position in which they were found and will be placed under a glass cover in order to create a memorial complex. It will also contain materials about the Armenian genocide against Azerbaijanis in Azerbaijani, English, French, German and Russian. One of the proposals says it is necessary to involve foreign diplomats and tourists in the memorial complex, to set up a website with archive materials that contain facts about the Azerbaijani genocide carried out by Armenians in the early 20th century and video recordings, photos and results of the analyses of the remains found in Quba, and to publish all this in several languages as a book.

The Academy thinks that the mass graves in Quba are direct evidence of the Azerbaijani genocide committed by Armenians in the early 20th century. For this reason, in order to get international organizations and countries to officially recognize this fact, Azerbaijani scientists will send a relevant appeal on the basis of archive documents and the remains found in Quba. But initially, research should be carried out in Azerbaijan, of course, and only after that, can we invite foreign experts, including foreign diplomats.

We should point out that the Prosecutor-General's Office has joined the work being carried out at the Quba mass grave. Some remains have been brought to Baku for analysis.

Ignoring impartial history

A scientific conference dedicated to the mass graves of Azerbaijanis found in Quba was held in Baku on 23 April. The event which was initiated by the New Azerbaijan Party was attended by scientists, members of parliament and representatives of some foreign embassies.

In his speech, the chairman and executive secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party (NAP), Ali Ahmadov, pointed out that Azerbaijan's history was falsified for a long time under the Soviets. The mass graves found in Quba of Azerbaijanis who were brutally killed by Armenian terrorists testify that our people had fallen victim to deliberate genocide carried out by Armenians for many years. Armenian historians engage in various falsifications in order to implement Armenia's aggressive policy, distort historical facts and present the Armenians as victims of "genocide" to the whole world. And this is being done against the entire Turkic people.

According to Ahmadov, the event where many representatives of the diplomatic corps were invited was attended by very few diplomats accredited in Baku. "None of the countries co-chairing the OSCE Minsk Group expressed its desire to attend," Ahmadov said.

Ali Ahmadov suggested setting up an international commission of foreign specialists to study the mass graves of Azerbaijanis found in Quba. On the day of the so-called "Armenian genocide" on 24 April, functionaries of the New Azerbaijan Party visited the Quba mass grave of Azerbaijanis.

The Foreign Ministry has undertaken some work to inform international organizations and countries about the mass grave of Azerbaijanis in Quba, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has told journalists. He said that Azerbaijan's diplomatic representative offices abroad will inform world countries about the recent discovery in Quba and Neftcala of mass graves of the victims of the genocide carried out by Armenians in 1918. The Foreign Ministry has already sent necessary instructions to Azerbaijan's representative offices and embassies," Mammadyarov said. This is what a method of civilized struggle should be like.

Armenian historians are carrying out similar, but larger work to get the international community to recognize the "Armenian genocide". And they have been successful in this - the "Armenian genocide" has been recognized by the European Parliament, France, Russia, Canada, Argentina, Belgium, Lebanon, the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, Greece, Australia and Sweden. We are not going to explain what is true or not. One thing is clear - if the world has recognized that the main target of "World War IV" are terrorists, the Quba mass grave proves that Azerbaijanis are victims of Armenian terror. The international community must give an assessment to this and put an end to its policy of double standards.

A conference called "Imperialist lies: Armenian claims" was held in the Turkish town of Igdir recently. It was organized by the society of victims of Armenian violence during World War I. The conference was addressed by the professor of Ataturk University in Erzurum, Enver Konukcu.

He stressed that there had been no genocide against Armenians in world history: "There is not a single mass grave of Armenians outside Armenia. In Armenia, the Armenians themselves carried out genocide against their own people, and in order to cover up their tracks, they claim that genocide was committed against them. They say that 1.5m Armenians were wiped out.

Wherever you go, you hear everywhere that Turks carried out genocide against the Armenians. When I demand evidence, they keep quiet. I ask why they are not saying that their fathers wiped out hundreds of Azerbaijanis in Alican. The Armenians claim that this land belonged to them. This land was inhabited by Urartu and Iskit tribes. The territory of modern Armenia is Turkic land."

Touching on the historical personality of Armenian commander Andranik, Konukcu called him a criminal. "Andranik who carried out genocide against Turks in eastern Anatolia is not a general, he is a real criminal. Why do Armenians regard him as a hero? Because he killed Turks."

The conference was also addressed by the professor of Ataturk University, Omar Erden, and the head of the society of victims of Armenian violence, Cafar Zor. In their addresses, they pointed out that the "Armenian genocide" is a fiction.

5,000 people in one day in New York, and 12,000 people in three days in Baku. Are we not talking about the value of human life here? And does it matter who fell victim to terror - Americans, Turks or Azerbaijanis? Everyone is equal before death. But the world has repeatedly demonstrated to us that there is a big difference between the "Armenian genocide" in inverted commas and the Azerbaijani genocide without inverted commas. This is also proved by the failure of ambassadors of major powers to attend events related to the genocide of our people, not just in Quba, but also in Xocali.
