As the only multisectoral company in Azerbaijan, JSC Azerkorpu continues to deservedly take the leading position among the undisputed leaders in the implementation of major construction projects not only in our country but also abroad. This success is due to the fact that by applying the experience of many years, the company always provides its customers with high quality work using the best international construction equipment, the latest achievements in the construction sphere and most importantly, qualified personnel able to cope with any task.
Today Azerkorpu continues to successfully implement several major projects on the basis of orders from state institutions. But first of all, we would like to mention the largest project that has no analogues in the CIS: the construction of a complex road junction located near the Koroglu metro station on the Heydar Aliyev Avenue - Airport highway in Baku. Today this junction with a total length of 3,142 metres provides traffic in seven directions - the 8 km village, Qara Qarayev Avenue, the village of Bakixanov, Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, Heydar Aliyev Avenue and the Koroglu underground station. The project of the junction, which was ordered by the Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan, consisted of three building complexes. The most difficult one was the construction of an overpass suspended from metal parabolic arches and four overpasses and access roads to them with total length of 1,194 metres. Noting the complexity and uniqueness of the outcome, it should be noted that it was the Azerkorpu company that built an overpass with a cabling structure for the first time in the country. The length of the suspension span was 360 metres and the height of the pylon was 98 metres. Today this road provides the direct movement of vehicles travelling from the airport towards the residential areas 8 km, Ahmadli, Gunasli and from the Zig roundabout to the main road leading to the airport. We must say that one of the advantages of cable-stayed bridges is the relative immobility of the roadway, which makes it possible to use them as railway bridges as well. It is pleasing to note that experts of the Moscow Institute IMIDIS invited by the Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan to test all the overpasses revealed the high quality and reliability of the structures. The opening ceremony of the junction was attended by President Ilham Aliyev.
The activities of Azerkorpu are in demand in the construction of regional significance. For example, next in line is the completion of the construction of a bridge over the River Kura at the 55th kilometre of the Alat-Astara road. This time, the project was ordered by JSC Azeryolservis of the Transport Ministry of Azerbaijan. This bridge is being built in the south-west of the country - in the place where a four-lane highway crosses the Kura River in the city of Salyan. The total length of the bridge is 363 metres and total width - 29.74 metres. The construction, which began in February 2011, will be completed in 2013.
Also, the construction of a railway bridge with a length of 208.44 metres and a width of 6.4 metres is currently underway at the 73rd kilometre of the Saloglu-Poylu span across the River Kura.
Undoubtedly, another major project handed over to Azerkorpu - the construction of Line V of the Baku metro - the Coach Station-Memar Acami tunnel with a length of 2,000 metres and a diameter of 6 metres, will be successfully implemented.
We should emphasize that in order to implement its tasks, Azerkorpu is actively introducing new technologies, monitoring and analyzing the quality of the management system for compliance with the standards ISO 9001:2000, ISO 9001:2008, the environmental management system for compliance with ISO 14001:2004 and health and safety for compliance with OHSAS 18001:2007, continuously improving its performance.
Speaking of JSC Azerkorpu, one cannot forget about the services of its permanent subcontractor - the private company Technomost, which has gained recognition and prestige from customers over the years of its existence and has a powerful software base for effective design solutions at the highest level. The company has been certified by the famous Swiss company SGS for compliance with ISO 9001:2008.
Currently, one of the most important projects, which is being jointly implemented by Azerkorpu and Technomost at the request of JSC Irrigation and Water Management, is the construction of the Taxtakorpu hydroelectric complex worth several hundred million manats, which is of strategic importance for water supplies to Baku, Sumqayit and the whole of the Abseron peninsula. In addition to its main task - improving water supplies, the construction of the hydroelectric complex will further enhance the energy capability of surrounding areas. The water reservoir of the hydroelectric complex is located at the 30th kilometre of the new Valvalicay-Taxtakorpu channel, in the two districts - Sabran and Siyazan, at the tip of the south-eastern ridge of the Greater Caucasus Mountains. Elevations range from 50 to 250 metres. The site of the hydroelectric complex is located five kilometres west of the Sabran-Siyazan highway.
The construction of the new Baku International Maritime Port
The role of Azerkorpu in solving tasks of state and strategic nature is also important.
The Azerbaijani government has decided to move the Baku International Maritime Commercial Port to a new place - near the village of Alat.
The new port will be provided with modern equipment and designed and constructed according to international standards. It will be a significant new hub for the Azerbaijan Republic and neighbouring countries. The area proposed for the construction of the new port is near the main highway linking Baku to the Iranian border and the main railway linking Baku to Georgia and the West. As the most optimal navigation route that can be used despite prevailing winds and without damaging the Gil Island, an option for the construction of an access channel from the sea in the south-eastern direction was selected. The main components of the port's master plan include four cargo berths, multipurpose berths, a berth for small vessels, a Ro-Ro bridge, a double-bridge ferry terminal and a port basin of 300 x 650 metres. The berths will be serviced with rail or mobile harbour cranes. At the port, it is necessary to build various structures and a complex of buildings, which are an example of architecture that embodies the status of the Azerbaijan Republic as the main maritime hub.
At present, Azerkorpu is building an access road to the port complex. The highway consists of a transport interchange and roads. The interchange includes a 56.6-metre tunnel while the access road will be 2 kilometres long.
The roadbed of the train station (3 km) to allow railway access to the port complex is also under construction.
In addition, preparations are under way for the construction of Phase 1 of the port complex.
International market
Characteristically, such a large amount of work has been carried out at the highest level of quality and within a strict timeframe. These factors played an invaluable role in promoting Azerkorpu and Technomost on the international market. It is known that Azerkorpu and Technomost have branches in Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Turkey.
At the request of the public institution "South Kazakhstan Regional Department of the Roads Committee of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan", the two companies are currently successfully building a road "around the city of Shymkent".
The construction of the concrete road of the first category with a length 36.5 km, including four overpasses (290.134 m) and three bridges (165.5 m), was launched in 2010. Also in Kazakhstan, the reconstruction of a section of the road of national importance "Border of the Russian Federation (to Samara) - Shymkent - Kyzylorda" is under way. The construction of the asphalt concrete road (28 km) includes six overpasses (401.73 m) and five bridges (725.59 m).
The intellectual potential of Technomost was appreciated in the Republic of Tatarstan (Russian Federation). The Kazan city leadership invited Technomost to design the road network of Tatarstan's capital for the 27th World Summer Universiade 2013. The Azerbaijani company has already prepared eight projects. The construction of two of them, namely, an interchange at the intersection of Esperanto and Tikhomirov streets and the reconstruction of a section of the Lenin dam and a bridge across the River Kazanka, have been handed over directly to Azerkorpu.
There is no doubt that this work will be delivered to customers on time and at the highest level. Therefore, we can safely expect that Azerkorpu and Technomost will continue to conquer new heights in business both locally and internationally.
