WHO WILL HELP THE "POOR" AND THE "LONG-SUFFERING"?
With intrigue against the jewish lobby, the armenian diaspora calls for its support for recognition of the fictional "armenian genocide"
Author: Sahil ISGANDAR, political scietist Baku
The Armenian lobby continues its attempts to have the so-called Armenian genocide recognized, trying to force Turkey to capitulate. A further manifestation of its activity was the recent adoption of decisions by the US Congress foreign relations committee and the Swedish parliament.
This time, the Armenians have tried to make the best of strained Turkish-Israeli relations to win the support of the US Jewish lobby. And they have apparently succeeded in doing that, albeit only in part.
However, a brief overview of the history of Armenia's relations with the Jewish lobby shows that Armenians can rely on anyone but the Jews in the implementation of their notorious plans.
The Armenian lobby, which has been regarded as the second strongest in the world for some time (after the Jewish lobby), has avoided open confrontation with the Jewish diaspora for years due to its relatively limited resources (lobbying and financial). But intrigue and provocation have still been apparent at times.
According to Armenian representatives, to advance their ideas they need to neutralize and discredit two major obstacles: Israel and the Jews (the Jewish diaspora). That is why many Armenian experts resent Israel's wish to strengthen its position in the South Caucasus and in all developments in the region, criticising the Azerbaijan-Turkey-Georgia-Israel alliance and the quartet's ally - the United States. Israel is also accused of giving military support to Georgia and Azerbaijan. They see Iran as the main adversary in this regional policy.
Modern Armenian ideologues claim that a number of Israeli organizations, together with some "subverted" representatives of Armenian science, are actively infiltrating various research structures in the United States and Europe in order to justify the false theory that the Armenians belong to the Semitic race and have strong similarities with the Jewish people. According to them, by promoting this theory, Israel suppresses the desire of the Armenian community in the US to continue the process of seeking recognition of the Armenian genocide and creates the view that the Caucasus and Asia Minor are not the native homeland of the Armenian people. Ultimately, Israel is trying to take control of the powerful capital of the Armenian community by a mass mixing of the Armenian and Jewish diasporas in the US and Europe.
Armenian experts argue that the project to "Judaise" Armenians in the United States and Europe was developed by Turkish-Jewish historians and psychologists in the 1930s. In their view, the most dangerous phenomenon would be a sharp increase in cosmopolitan and openly pro-Jewish sentiments in Armenian society, which are supplemented by the desire of impressive numbers of youth to create friendly and fraternal relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan, forgetting national identity and national aspirations to restore the former power and greatness of the Armenian state and nation.
It turns out that Jewish scholars who seek to understand historical facts, in fact want to liken the Jews to the Armenians in order to deprive them of their "ancestral homeland", not to mention the fact that the ultimate goal of the Jewish diaspora is to "pocket the incalculable riches" of the Armenian diaspora. As for the desire to establish fraternal relations with the Turks, Azerbaijanis, Jews and other peoples, how can young people, who are constantly brainwashed by the theory of "national identity and the desire to restore the former power and greatness of the Armenian state and nation", be friendly with others?
Even the clearly pro-Armenian chairperson of the Jewish community of Armenia, R. Varzhapetyan (strange name for such a post, isn't it?) was forced to send a letter to Armenia's Deputy Foreign Minister R. Shugaryan in May 2003, complaining about growing anti-Semitism in the country. Prior to that, in February 2002, a book by R. Yepiskoposyan entitled "The National System", published in Armenian and Russian, was presented at the Yerevan writers' house. The book calls the Turks "a killer nation" and the Jews "a destroyer nation". In the chapter "The Greatest Falsification of the 20th Century," the author claims that the Holocaust is a myth. When R. Varzhapetyan asked Armenian presidential adviser R. Davoyan to condemn this book, which causes ethnic strife, and to withdraw it from sale, her appeal was met with surprise and even irony. After a series of harsh statements by Israeli officials that they do not recognize the "Armenian genocide", the Jews experienced anti-Semitic sentiments in Armenia and among the Armenian diaspora more than ever. A Nazi swastika was painted at the Holocaust memorial in Yerevan and on the doors of the office of the Jewish community, threats were made by telephone, and the press published anti-Israeli and anti-Semitic comments. Youth motivated by the Dashnaktsutyun party took an active part in these actions. The then Armenian Foreign Minister, Vardan Oskanyan, his deputy Shugaryan and presidential adviser Davoyan hastened to assure all that individual emotional actions by young people do not represent the attitude of the Armenian people towards their Jewish fellow citizens and the entire Jewish people, whom the Armenians have always treated with respect and sympathy. How consistent are the officials' words with Armenian reality? Let's turn to the facts. During the presentation of Yepiskoposyan's book "The National System", teachers (people who raise the younger generation) present at the event expressed their admiration for this "masterpiece" as follows: "Finally, we have a book with which we can educate the younger generation." It is unlikely that this can be explained by individual emotional manifestations, negligence, illiteracy, and Armenians' love for the Jews. Back in 2002, the newspaper "Golos Armenii" published an article entitled "Ghosts of the Past: They do not want to simply exist, they want to rule the world", in which the writer accuses Israeli politicians of suspicious links with the Jewish community of Armenia. But the author does not stop there. He accuses Israel of a litany of "anti-Armenian" actions: "Israeli Armeniaphobia; attempts by Jewish political and public circles to attract attention through a persistent campaign of opposition to the recognition of the Armenian genocide; a pro-Turkish policy aimed against Armenia." According to the writer there is a direct link between the refusal of the Israeli government to recognize the "Armenian genocide" and the fact that Jews were members of the government of Turkey at the time of the alleged "genocide". The "researcher" writes about the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" and the Young Turks: "The leaders of the Young Turks, who were of different ethnic origins and held key positions in the Ottoman Empire during the First World War, were directly connected with the Turkish government's atrocities against Armenia. But as you know, the chairman and chief ideologue of pan-Turkism was hardly a Turk. In this connection, I would like to say something about modern Zionists who have built a wall of mistrust about the genocide of the Armenians: your actions are as cynical and immoral as your endless attempts to convince certain circles of the Holocaust, although this is an invention by the Jews." At one time, this same newspaper published a review of a book by Shvarants called "Pan-Turkism and the Geopolitical Strategy of Turkey in the Caucasus." The article praises Shvarants for "exposing the alliance of Pan-Turkism and Zionism, led by the United States, which defends Azerbaijan". The establishment of the State of Israel is regarded as a "robbery and humiliation of others," and it is noted that the roots of pan-Turkism lie in "Zionist doctrine." No matter how the Armenian authorities deny mass anti-Jewish sentiment in the country, not only the Armenians living in Armenia, but the absolute majority of Armenians in the world (especially the overseas Armenian diaspora and Dashnaktsutyun) clearly blame the events of 1915 in the Ottoman Empire on the Jews. In this regard, an invaluable "contribution" has been made by Armenian scientists and experts who falsify historical facts in favour of the "great Armenian nation", which is seriously infected by the idea of creating a "Greater Armenia" and governing all mankind.
We should not forget about the exclusive role of Echmiadzin, which specifically deludes the Armenians into thinking that their ethnic group is exclusive. According to some church "officials", during the events of 1915 the Jews were directly in cahoots with the Ottoman Empire, for which they were promised the highest level permission to lay the foundations of a Jewish state in Palestine. It turns out that the handover of Armenia to the Turks was a deal under which Turkey abandoned Palestine in favour of a British mandate which, according to the Balfour Declaration, paved the way for a Jewish state. That is why the Armenians believe that the State of Israel was built not only on the blood of "Sha'ab al-Falestin", but also on the blood of 1.5 million Armenians. Moreover, according to most Armenian "researchers", there was collusion between Turkey and Bolshevik Russia, where Jewish revolutionaries played a leading role during the October Revolution. It seems that the Bolshevik government of Lenin and Bronstein (the power of the Jews) concluded the infamous Brest-Litovsk Treaty with Germany and Turkey in 1918, giving the adversary ancient Russian lands and abandoning Armenian brothers to the mercy of the Ottomans.
At the same time, the Armenians were silent about a few sensitive, but logical questions: what can explain the fairly large number of Armenians in the ranks of the Bolsheviks? What purposes did they serve? Were they rampant in the interests of Soviet Russia or in the interests of Dashnak Armenia? Why do Armenians prefer to keep silent about the genocide arranged by Stepan Shaumyan and the Dashnaks in 1918 against the civilian population of Azerbaijan, including the Jews? If the Bolshevik government was so hostile to Armenians, why is it that so far the Armenian side has not taken a single step to expose the Armenian revolutionaries S. Shaumyan, A. Mikoyan, Kamo, Karakhan, Myasnikyan, etc.? Of course, we will not get answers to these questions.
History shows that the Armenians have seen the Jews exclusively as rivals and enemies for centuries. In the same Ottoman Empire, the Jews were in a better position than the Armenians, which greatly annoyed the latter. The preference which the authorities gave to Jews, who actively competed with the Christians in trade and craft, caused discontent among the Armenians and promoted growing anti-Jewish sentiment in their midst. In 1545, the disappearance of an Armenian boy in Amasya led to a rumour that he had been killed by Jews for ritual purposes. Under pressure from the Armenians, the local authorities arrested several members of the Jewish community, tortured and forced them to "confess" to the crime, and then executed them. The remaining Jews, fearing pogroms, moved to the nearby town of Tokkat. However, some time later the missing boy was found. Until almost the middle of the 19th century, major public posts in finance in the Ottoman Empire were occupied by Jews, which also greatly annoyed leaders of the Armenian community; this gave rise to intrigues against the Jews in order to discredit them.
It is notable that while the Armenians fought against the Jews, in the same Ottoman Empire the Turks took in the Sephardim (Jews) expelled from Spain. All these circumstances form the historical basis of modern relationships.
Anti-Semitism in Iran and Russia also manifests itself under the influence of the Armenian community. In Russia, the first large-scale pogroms took place under the patronage of the Armenian general Mikhail Loris-Melikov (1881). In Tabriz, over 4 thousand Jews were killed following bloody slander by local Armenians.
Another element of the Armenian struggle for the right to be the "navel of the earth" made itself felt in 2004 when the Tsentropoligraf company in Moscow issued a book entitled "Armenians: Creator Nation." The author of the book, published in English, is David Lang, and the book was translated by Levina. The director of the Presumption human rights committee, A. Gayamyan, appealed to Russia's prosecutor-general, urging him to investigate the incorrect translation of the title of the book. He claimed that in English the title of the book literally means "Armenia: Cradle of Civilization", while Levina's (a Jew by nationality) translation is "Armenians: Creator Nation". Gayamyan saw Levina's actions as being deliberate in intent, manifesting itself in her unwillingness to see Armenia as a "rival" of Israel, which "has monopolized the right to be the cradle of civilization."
Today it is no secret that Armenia maintains an active relationship with terrorist organizations that seek to destroy Israel. For example, in 2009 the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera circulated information that the crashed Tehran-Yerevan Tu-154 aeroplane carried weapons and a large number of detonators for Hezbollah.
There is also a lot of evidence that a number of terrorist acts, carried out under the name of Palestinian organizations, were, in fact, designed and developed by ethnic Armenians.
"For example, the capture and killing of Israeli athletes by members of Black September during the Munich Olympics on 5 September 1972 was implemented with the active participation of one of the founders of ASALA, Hakob Hakobyan," said Moisey Bekker, a senior fellow at the Human Rights Institute of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences, in an interview with Day.az. According to him, in 1987 the Israeli secret service Mossad revealed evidence of close cooperation between the Armenian terrorist organization ASALA and Hezbollah. "Together, the two terrorist organizations started to plan very sophisticated operations. For example, on 11 May 2001, a few dozen miles north of Tel Aviv, Israel's air defence forces downed a Cessna plane which, according to a press release by Hezbollah, was being flown by Stephen Hovhannes Nikolyan - an ethnic Armenian and a suicide bomber by calling. The aim was to destroy a settlement in the territory of Israel. This is reminiscent of the 11 September 2001 events in New York when the twin towers of the World Trade Centre were destroyed," the scholar said.
All these and many other facts laid the groundwork for distrust of Israel in Armenia. To provide evidence, let's consider the reasons for the cancellation of Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan's visit to Israel. According to information leaked to the press, the head of the Armenian government refused to pay this visit because of the possibility of his arrest in Israel. It turns out that when Sargsyan headed the Central Bank of Armenia, huge sums of money were laundered through the country's banking system and some of it flowed to Arab countries. These amounts could, theoretically, have been used to finance international terrorism. But the president of the International Israel-Azerbaijan Association and former deputy of the Israeli parliament, Joseph Chagall, has another point of view: "Tigran Sargsyan's visit to Israel was cancelled due to the fact that none of the senior political leaders of Israel expressed a desire to meet him."
By the way, despite the fact that Sargsyan's visit to Israel was cancelled, the Promised Land was visited by the Catholicos of All Armenians, Garegin II - most likely to brief the Armenians of Israel on how to cause trouble over public prayers in the Holy Sepulchre. Perhaps it is no accident that after this visit, the former Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Michel Sabbah, and the programme manager of the World Council of Churches for the Middle East, Michel Nseir, handed the Cilician Catholicos Aram I a note of protest on behalf of all the churches of Jerusalem. The document speaks of discrimination against Christians in Israel and urges the world community to impose sanctions against Israel. It seems that the authors of the document knew who they should talk to in order for the intrigue to get a start in life.
